FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is an advanced form of tattooing where state-of-the-art equipment, needles and blades are used that have been specifically developed to work around the delicate areas of the face. Because it is permanent, it's crucial you choose a reputable permanent makeup technician, who has a portfolio showing you real examples of their work and is covered by a reputable insurance company.

Who can benefit from permanent makeup?

So many of us! Permanent makeup is about looking and feeling amazing 24/7. It's perfect if you struggle to find time each morning - many of Jody's clients are busy working mums - if you're taking things a bit easier, or if just always want to look and feel your best. If you want beauty made easy, then permanent makeup is the ideal solution for you.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the treatment you choose, you'll usually be in the treatment room for around 2 hours. A re-touch is included for new treatments,
required 4 weeks to 3 months after your initial appointment, and colour boosts are 1 treatment only.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Immediately after your treatment and for the first few days, the colour intensity will appear significantly darker and more intense but will subsequently lighten.
Mild redness and swelling may be apparent for the first couple of days, but you can normally resume your normal activities immediately following your procedure. Lip and eye treatments can experience swelling for a few days. Some clients can experience scabbing of the treatment whilst healing. You can use a specialist mineral makeup to heal, seal and protect the area - and your treatment will finish with a mini makeover using this mineral makeup, so you're ready to step out of the door and get on with your day! Click here to view and buy Jody's range of mineral makeup online today.

Does it hurt?

Your treatment will be made comfortable by using numbing creams. It is no more painful than having your eyebrows plucked; in fact many clients enjoy the treatment and find it relaxing (so relaxing, they nod off!).

How long will it last?

Permanent makeup usually lasts 12–18 months, depending on your lifestyle - and because it is a tattoo, a haze of colour can remain in the skin. Sun is our worst enemy and prematurely fades the permanent makeup, so a good SPF cream or makeup will always help prolong the life of your treatment. Colour boosts are required to help minimise the colour change that can result from the sun and other lifestyle factors (like skin health, medications and the products you use on your face). Click here to read my blog to learn more.

Please note every skin type is different and some clients will need to come back sooner for colour boosts.

Hairstrokes will merge into each other over time leaving a haze of colour.

Pigments can lighten and colour fade and colour change can occur.

Do you do corrections?

Yes! Jody spends a LOT of time correcting the work of others - which is why it's SO important to choose your permanent makeup artist carefully. There are some truly amazing artists in this industry, lots of them Jody is proud to call friends.

How do you know what style of eyebrow will suit me?

Everyone’s face is different - but there are a few a beauty secrets we use, to help re-design your brows so they will be unique to you. During your consultation, we'll draw on several different shaped eyebrows and only begin treatment when you are 100% happy with the shape.

How will you know what lip colours to choose?

When you come for your consultation, you'll be asked to bring along a couple of your favourite lipsticks, that you wear all the time. You'll then be shown a large range of colours to choose from or if you prefer, a custom blend the same as your favourite lipstick colour.

What is Microblading?

Microblading has been around for many (many) years. It's a way of implanting pigment into the skin using a specialised blade. The pigment is gently glided into the skin, for ultra soft and natural looking hairstrokes.

Recently, microblading has increased in popularity - both through the world of social media and with more clients actively looking for more natural ways to enhance their eyebrows. Both microblading and the digital method allow you to have fine natural hairstrokes and work well together.

Jody is a highly-experienced eyebrow specialist. During your consultation, your skin type and facial characteristics will be carefully analysed and you'll have a full discussion about what you want to achieve, BEFORE deciding on which method of permanent makeup is suitable for your brows. You'll be shown several different options and looks that suit your personality and face shape. Whether choosing microblading or digital machine, you'll get a custom blend a colour to suit your skin tone and lifestyle.

Drawing your new eyebrow design is a very important stage of your consultation. This is very personal to you and Jody will be guided on what type of eyebrow you like as well as using all her years experience, to give you the best possible results.
